According to the company, the continued evaluation of other intervals of interest, after the discoveries announced in August and early October 2026, enabled confirmation of this new discovery.

Petrobras reported that drilling and the acquisition of geological data have been completed. Now only the finalization of well operations will be carried out, with abandonment, and the rig will then move to the Potiguar Basin, off the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, where it will begin drilling at the Mãe de Ouro location.

Petrobras’ activity in block FZA-M-59 is aligned with the company’s long-term strategy, focused on replenishing oil and gas reserves by exploring new frontiers, with the goal of helping meet the country’s energy demand.
