Eneva (ENEV3) reported this Tuesday, August 4, 2026, that the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) has authorized the start of commercial operation of UTE Azulão I, a natural gas-fired thermoelectric plant located in Silves (AM). The plant has a 295 MW capacity sale commitment in the 2021 Capacity Reserve Auction, with a 15-year term starting on August 5, 2026, ensuring fixed annual revenue of R$ 278.3 million (base date December/25), adjusted annually in January by the IPCA inflation index.
In addition to fixed revenue, UTE Azulão I will be entitled to variable payments for generation, with a reference variable unit revenue of R$ 1,200.87/MWh (Unit Variable Cost – CVU, base date August/26), adjusted monthly by the JKM index and the exchange rate. The plant is supplied with natural gas from the company’s concessions in the Amazonas Basin.
UTE Azulão I is the first asset of the Azulão 950 Complex to begin operation. The complex also includes UTE Azulão II, a thermoelectric project contracted in ANEEL’s 2nd Capacity Reserve Auction in the form of Energy (LRCE), held on September 30, 2022, which is expected to start operation from July 2027, with fixed annual revenue of R$ 1,921.9 million (base date May/22) for 15 years, also adjusted annually by the IPCA.
With the start of commercial operation of UTE Azulão I, Eneva adds 100% flexible and dispatchable capacity to the National Interconnected System, contributing to the stability of the power matrix, the reliability of the national energy supply, and the diversification of energy sources in the Northern Region.
