On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Embraer (EMBJ3) announced the signing of a contract to supply two KC-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft to the Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana (FAC). The agreement includes mission equipment, an integrated services and support package, as well as an industrial cooperation program developed to meet Colombia’s regulatory requirements.
The FAC’s KC-390 fleet will be used for missions such as humanitarian assistance, disaster response, cargo and troop transport, equipment and personnel airdrops, and air-to-air refueling. The aircraft will feature connectivity to operate in an integrated manner with the Gripen fighters recently acquired by Colombia, enhancing the country’s operational readiness and interoperability.
According to the company, the KC-390 Millennium is capable of transporting up to 26 tons of payload, flying at 470 knots, and can operate from temporary or unpaved runways. When equipped with a fast-install air-to-air refueling (AAR) system, the model can operate both as a tanker aircraft and as a receiver.
With Colombia’s choice, the KC-390 now has operators in the Brazilian Air Force and in the air forces of Portugal, Hungary, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia and Lithuania, totaling 13 countries that have selected the aircraft.
