Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais S.A. – Usiminas (USIM5) reported this Friday, July 31, 2026, the release of its 2025 Sustainability Report, which updates the company’s decarbonization target. The new target calls for an 8% reduction in emissions intensity for hot-rolled equivalent steel by 2030, compared with the 2024 base year, covering Scopes 1, 2 and 3, Categories 1 and 10.

According to Usiminas, the updated target includes the incorporation of Scope 3 emissions, mainly those associated with raw materials and semi-finished steel purchased from third parties, as well as an expansion of the operational boundary to include the hot rolling process. The company has also adopted the GHG Protocol methodology for accounting its emissions.

The 2025 Sustainability Report also describes Usiminas’ strategy, performance, risks and governance on sustainability topics such as climate change, environment, people, communities and value chain, highlighting that integrity is treated as a central element for the company’s long-term sustainability.
