How we calculate the score →Fundamental Analysis of BIOM3 (Biomm)
IABiomm is a Brazilian company in the Healthcare sector, operating in the Medicines and Other Products segment, with shares traded on B3 under the ticker BIOM3. Its activity focuses on the development and commercialization of biotechnological drugs, combining in-house manufacturing with strategic partnerships with global companies. The portfolio includes insulins, monoclonal antibodies, and other biotechnological drugs, as well as vaccines and Covid-19-related treatments and operations in the ophthalmology segment, supported by industrial units in Minas Gerais and other states.
Biomm’s recent financial fundamentals indicate positive profitability, with ROE, ROIC, and gross and net margins at levels that suggest the ability to generate results in a sector intensive in research and development. Strong revenue growth over five years points to a meaningful expansion of operations. Leverage, measured by Net Debt/EBITDA, indicates a moderate level of indebtedness, which should be interpreted alongside comfortable current liquidity, although lower quick liquidity suggests attention to the composition of current assets.
The company obtained a score of 3.6 on the Visno Score, reflecting a combination of strong growth with weaknesses in historical consistency and liquidity. Leverage appears relatively favorable within the set of indicators, while share liquidity and the quality of results over time limit the overall assessment.

About Biomm
Biomm S.A. is a Brazilian biotechnology company founded in 2001 following the partial spin-off of Biobrás S.A., a traditional company in the country’s insulin sector. At that time, Biomm incorporated all intellectual property related to recombinant DNA production technology, including international patents and the assets needed to continue activities. After the sale of Biobrás’s control to Danish company Novo Nordisk in 2002, Biomm remained under the leadership of entrepreneurs involved in the development of biotechnology in Brazil, who had participated in initiatives such as Fundação Biominas, ABRABI, and the local biotechnology production cluster of Belo Horizonte and its metropolitan area. Throughout the 2000s, the company set up corporate vehicles abroad and pursued international projects focused on insulin production, such as the joint venture in Saudi Arabia through Biomm Middle East.
Biomm’s trajectory includes significant capital-raising moves and the structuring of industrial and commercial operations. In 2012, the company approved its listing on the Bovespa Mais segment of the then BM&FBOVESPA, now B3, converting preferred shares into common shares and amending its bylaws with a focus on corporate governance practices. In 2014, its shares began trading on B3 under the ticker BIOM3, consolidating the company as a publicly listed issuer in the Brazilian market. From that point on, Biomm intensified its strategic review, expanding its scope to a broader portfolio of biotechnological drugs, especially aimed at treating chronic diseases of high public health relevance, such as diabetes.
Biomm’s business model combines industrial activities with a strong component of importing, storing, and marketing biotechnological drugs in Brazil through strategic partnerships with several international laboratories. The company generates revenue predominantly from the import of thermolabile drugs, ensuring an appropriate cold chain, storage in certified facilities, and nationwide distribution. In 2024, the company consolidated the industrial stage with ANVISA’s validation of its biopharmaceutical plant in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, which began production in April of that year, enabling in-house manufacturing of insulin glargine and, potentially, other therapeutically relevant proteins. Despite this industrial expansion, the financial statements show that Biomm operates as a single operating segment, reflecting an integrated performance in biopharmaceuticals.
Biomm’s portfolio is diversified within the pharma and biotechnology segment, focusing on drugs for diabetes, oncology, rheumatology, thrombosis, immune-mediated diseases, and ophthalmology. In the diabetes area, the company markets, among others, the inhaled insulin Afrezza, a human insulin administered by inhalation for adults; Wosulin, a human insulin in NPH and regular presentations, widely used in the Brazilian healthcare system; and Glargilin, a biosimilar biopharmaceutical of long-acting insulin glargine. In addition, it maintains in its portfolio or pipeline insulin analogues and antidiabetic drugs such as semaglutide, degludec, liraglutide, aspart, and lispro, forming a broad set of therapeutic options for glycemic control. In other therapeutic fronts, products include Herzuma (a biosimilar trastuzumab for HER2-positive breast cancer), Ghemaxan (a biosimilar enoxaparin sodium for deep vein thrombosis and unstable angina), and biopharmaceuticals in development or in the approval phase, such as bevacizumab, pegfilgrastim, teriparatide, denosumab, ustekinumab, and ranibizumab.
Biomm’s commercial strategy is based on supply, distribution, and licensing partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies, in which the company acts as the importer responsible for logistics, storage, and marketing of the drugs within Brazilian territory. The company maintains two subsidiaries abroad, Biomm International Inc. and Biomm Middle East Inc., used mainly to facilitate international negotiations and technology transfer projects, although current revenues are generated entirely in Brazil. The relationship with the Ministry of Health is significant, with this client accounting for a substantial share of net operating revenue in 2024, especially due to the supply of human and biosimilar insulins aimed at meeting the needs of the Unified Health System (SUS).
Biomm’s geographic presence is concentrated in Brazil, with industrial and operational units located mainly in Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina, in addition to an office in São Paulo. The biopharmaceutical plant in Nova Lima houses production, packaging, and storage activities for insulin and other biopharmaceuticals, operating under good manufacturing practices certification. Branches in Contagem, Minas Gerais, and Itajaí, Santa Catarina, were structured as storage and distribution centers for insulin and other products, forming a logistics network that serves 21 Brazilian states and the Federal District. The company does not record any revenue from abroad, focusing its commercial strategy on the domestic market, both in the public and private channels, through distributors, pharmacies, supplemental healthcare operators, and government agencies.
From a regulatory standpoint, Biomm operates in a highly supervised environment, characteristic of the pharmaceutical sector. Manufacturing, importing, storage, distribution, and marketing of drugs are subject to regulation by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), which grants product registrations and good manufacturing practices certifications, as well as by the Drug Market Regulation Chamber (CMED), responsible for defining and adjusting maximum drug prices in the country. In addition to these federal bodies, the company is subject to requirements from municipalities, professional councils, environmental agencies such as the Minas Gerais State Environmental Policy Council (COPAM), the Fire Department, and the Federal Police, depending on the type of product and infrastructure used. Industrial and storage activities require environmental licensing with preliminary, installation, and operating licenses, which are periodically renewed and conditioned on technical environmental protection requirements.
In terms of environmental, social, and governance practices, Biomm does not yet maintain a structured ESG report disclosed to the market but states that it adopts internal procedures to comply with social, environmental, and labor legislation. The company has implemented solid waste management controls at the Nova Lima plant, including identification, quantification, and proper disposal, as well as monitoring of noise and potential environmental impacts, in line with conditions established by SUPRAM/MG. It also maintains programs and policies focused on occupational health and safety, monitoring accidents, ensuring the presence of a safety technician, and adherence to applicable Regulatory Standards. On the social front, the company states that it adheres to principles of respect for human rights, non-discrimination, inclusion, and combating child and slave labor, formalized in a code of ethics and conduct. It also develops initiatives to hire people with disabilities, young apprentices, and interns, in addition to an Environmental Education Program to be implemented with the local community, reinforcing integration between industrial operations and the surrounding area.
Biomm’s shares, traded under the ticker BIOM3 on B3, provide exposure to the pharma and biotechnology segment with a focus on complex biological drugs, particularly for the treatment of diabetes, cancer, thrombosis, and chronic diseases. The company’s positioning combines installed biopharmaceutical industrial capacity in Brazil, a portfolio based on insulins, biosimilars, and biopharmaceuticals licensed from global partners, as well as commercial relationships with the public sector and private distribution channels. This configuration places Biomm in a specific niche of the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry, with an emphasis on products of high technological complexity and intense regulation over the prices, quality, and safety of the drugs offered to the domestic market.
