On Tuesday afternoon, the Ibovespa was up 0.89%, at 173,430.81 points, moving higher compared to earlier partial readings in the session. Among the highlights of the trading day, Assai (ASAI3) was up 7.70%, at R$ 8.95, while Paranapanema (PMAM3) was down 13.33%, at R$ 0.13, marking, respectively, the biggest gain and the steepest drop of the day so far.

On the upside, besides ASAI3, shares of Lojas Quero-Quero (LJQQ3) were trading at R$ 1.18, up 7.27%. Plano & Plano (PLPL3) was among the top gainers, quoted at R$ 7.20, an increase of 5.88%. C&A Modas (CEAB3) was up 5.87%, at R$ 7.94, and Direcional Engenharia (DIRR3) was up 5.64%, at R$ 11.24.

On the downside, after the 13.33% drop in PMAM3, shares of Azevedo & Travassos Energia (AZTE3) were trading at R$ 1.36, down 10.53%. Braskem (BRKM5) was among the biggest losers, quoted at R$ 4.35, a decline of 8.03%. In retail, Casas Bahia (BHIA3) was down 4.88%, at R$ 0.39, while São Martinho (SMTO3) fell 4.67%, trading at R$ 18.37.

Compared with earlier readings in this session, the Ibovespa extended its gains, moving from increases of 0.3% and then 0.8% to the current 0.89%. Among individual movers, ONCO3, which earlier had climbed as much as 13.16%, lost ground on the list of the largest swings, while AZTE3 remains among the biggest intraday decliners, now down 10.53%.
