ENGIE Brasil Energia (EGIE3) reported that, in a press release published this Monday, August 10, 2026, the rating agency Fitch Ratings upgraded the company’s Long-Term IDR (Issuer Default Rating) on the global scale in local currency from ‘BBB-’ to ‘BBB’, with a stable outlook.
According to the release, Fitch also reaffirmed the National Long-Term rating at ‘AAA(bra)’, as well as the Long-Term IDR on the global scale in foreign currency at ‘BB+’. The ‘AAA(bra)’ rating assigned to the company’s senior unsecured debenture issues was also reaffirmed, all with a stable outlook.
According to Fitch, the upgrade of the local-currency IDR reflects the reassessment of the support incentives from parent company Engie S.A. to the subsidiary after the capital increase carried out in July 2026, in which the parent transferred its 40% stake in Jirau Energia to ENGIE Brasil Energia. In addition, the R$ 2.6 billion cash inflow from minority shareholders strengthened ENGIE Brasil’s financial profile.
