Operating revenue for the quarter was $3.0 billion ($2,978.9 million), compared with $3.2 billion ($3,220.6 million) in 3Q25. Operating income totaled $629.7 million, compared with $688.7 million. The nine-month result includes three after-tax charges: $111.4 million for the sale of Aquarion Water Company, $164.0 million for the increase in expected payments from the sale of offshore wind projects, and $43.9 million in refunds tied to the FERC (the federal energy regulatory agency) decision that reduced the transmission return on equity in New England from 10.57% to 9.57%. Adjusted earnings for the nine months were $1.33 billion, or $3.52 per share.

By segment in 3Q26, electric transmission had earnings of $182.0 million and electric distribution had $200.9 million, compared with $221.6 million in 3Q25, impacted by storm costs not approved by the Connecticut regulator (PURA). Natural gas distribution had a loss of $43.4 million, compared with a loss of $16.8 million, due to lower revenue in Massachusetts from a change in the seasonal rate design and higher depreciation. The water segment had no earnings in the quarter because of the sale of Aquarion on June 30, 2026.

The company updated its 2026 adjusted (non-GAAP) EPS guidance to a range of $4.62 to $4.70, with a midpoint of $4.66. On March 31, 2026, the range was $4.52 to $4.72. It also reaffirmed EPS growth of 5% to 7% per year through 2030, using the 2026 midpoint as the base, and expects annual growth in the upper half of that range through 2028.
