Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná – Sanepar (SAPR4) reported this Wednesday, September 2, 2026, that the Board of Directors approved, at its 5th extraordinary meeting of 2026, the proposal and signing of the 1st Addendum to the Environmental Commitment Agreement No. 4/2021-GABIN, related to the renegotiation of Judicial Settlement Agreements.
According to the company, the approval seeks to resolve disputes arising from notices of infraction issued by Ibama, which gave rise to 17 Public Civil Actions in the 11th Federal Court of Curitiba and resulted in the execution of 17 Judicial Settlement Agreements in March 2018, covering 184 Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs). Due to the need to readjust deadlines and operational criteria for 108 WWTPs, ECA No. 4/2021-GABIN had been executed in February 2021, but its judicial ratification was denied due to divergences raised by the Federal Prosecution Service regarding environmental compensation parameters.
Sanepar reported that the approved proposal is the result of technical and institutional negotiations conducted between 2023 and 2026 with the participation of representatives and expert teams from the Federal Prosecution Service, Ibama, Instituto Água e Terra (IAT), and the company itself. The 1st Addendum seeks to adjust the original instrument to enable the alignment of the operational and environmental obligations applicable to the WWTPs included in the agreement.
With the approval by the Board of Directors and the signing by the parties involved, the draft addendum will be submitted for review by the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4) and the 11th Federal Court of Curitiba for ratification and subsequent monitoring of compliance with the obligations undertaken. Sanepar stated that it will keep the market informed about developments in the judicial ratification process of the addendum.
