Embraer (EMBJ3) announced this Tuesday, July 21, 2026, that the airline Luxair has converted purchase rights into three E190-E2 aircraft at the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom. With the new 2026 agreement, Luxair’s firm order backlog for the E2 family now totals nine aircraft, in addition to one new, additional purchase right.
Luxair had already ordered six E195-E2 aircraft, four of which are in operation, and decided to expand its fleet with the E190-E2 after these aircraft entered service. According to the companies, the combined operation of the E195-E2 and E190-E2 models allows the airline to more precisely match seat capacity to route demand, while maintaining a uniform fleet, the same pilot type rating, maintenance infrastructure and operating procedures.
The first E190-E2 is expected to join Luxair’s fleet at the end of 2028. The aircraft will be configured with 100 seats and used mainly on high-frequency corporate routes, with a 2x2 cabin layout and no middle seat. The airline selected a cabin arrangement with seat pitch of up to 34 inches (86 cm) in the front section and 31 inches (79 cm) in the rear, and will also offer USB charging at every seat and wireless in-flight entertainment.
According to Embraer, the E190-E2 is part of the E-Jets E2 jet family, noted for its fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and low noise levels. The model delivers a noise footprint up to 63% smaller than the original E190, which, according to the companies, contributes to more sustainable and quieter operations across Luxair’s network.
