Fundamental Analysis of MGEL3 (Mangels Industrial)
Mangels Industrial is a company in the Basic Materials sector, operating in the Steel and Metallurgy subsector, in the Iron and Steel Products segment. With shares listed on B3 under the tickers MGEL3 and MGEL4, the company’s core activity is the production of rerolled, drawn and shaped steel products, except wire. Its operations are linked to the industrial supply chain, serving various types of demand for processed steel in the Brazilian market.
The most recent financial fundamentals indicate high profitability, with ROE and ROIC at levels that suggest efficient use of capital, although the relatively low net margin points to a lower‑margin business, typical of the steel and metallurgy sector. Five‑year revenue growth is moderate, but net income over the same period shows a decline, which should be interpreted alongside the high level of indebtedness, reflected in the net debt/EBITDA ratio. Current and quick ratios below 1 suggest a more pressured short‑term capital structure.
The company received a 0.0 score on the Visno Score, a result driven mainly by weaker indicators of liquidity, leverage and share liquidity. Despite a good profitability assessment, the combination of factors points to a risk profile that requires careful analysis of the financial fundamentals.

Mangels Industrial S.A. is a Brazilian publicly traded company, with common and preferred shares listed on B3 under the tickers MGEL3 and MGEL4. Although it was formally incorporated as a corporation in 1959, its business trajectory dates back to 1928, when it was founded by Max H. H. Mangels Jr. and Heinrich Kreutzberg. The company began operations manufacturing galvanized steel buckets in São Paulo, in step with urban expansion and the need for basic infrastructure in the country. Over the following decades, it diversified its portfolio into hardware for electric power distribution, LPG cylinders and, later, wheels and auto parts for Brazil’s nascent automotive industry, consolidating its presence in industrial segments that are capital‑intensive and reliant on metallurgical technology.
From the second half of the 20th century onward, Mangels Industrial was structured into business units focused on steels, wheels and cylinders, with a strong drive for plant expansion and acquisitions of steel rolling companies. The company opened plants in São Bernardo do Campo, Guarulhos and Três Corações, and also implemented one of the first steel service centers in Latin America, focused on rerolling and customized service to industry. Its IPO took place in 1971, when its shares began trading on the stock exchange, and since 2003 the company has been part of the former Bovespa’s Level 1 Corporate Governance segment, which entailed additional commitments to transparency and standardization of information to the market. Management has remained linked to the founding family over generations, with Robert Mangels serving as CEO in previous periods and, more recently, with Mark Ross Mangels assuming the chairmanship of the board of directors in 2023.
Mangels Industrial’s current business model is organized into three main operating segments: the Wheels Unit, the Cylinders Unit and the Steel Service Center. The Wheels Unit, located in Três Corações (MG), concentrates the production of original aluminum wheels supplied directly to automakers. The Cylinders Unit, also in Três Corações, manufactures cylinders for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed air tanks for truck and bus brake systems, as well as stamped components for the market. The Steel Service Center, located in Manaus (AM), supplies flat steel sheets to the motorcycle industry and produces “V” rear axles for light vehicles, using slitting and cutting‑to‑length processes and large presses.
From an operational standpoint, the company’s industrial processes involve metallurgical and metal‑forming technology. In aluminum wheel production, the flow comprises casting, machining, finishing and packaging stages, with specific painting lines, including an acrylic varnish painting line for aluminum wheels, which the company highlights as a production differentiator in Latin America. At the cylinders unit, carbon steel in coils is transformed into LPG cylinders through cutting, forming, welding, heat treatment, painting and integrity testing, as well as requalification of used containers. Compressed air tanks follow a similar sequence, with a focus on safety for use in vehicle brake systems. At the Steel Service Center, Mangels performs cutting and forming services with control systems aimed at reducing lead times, in addition to producing “V” profile axles intended for the automotive market.
In terms of revenue, the Wheels Unit is the main generator, accounting in 2025 for approximately two‑thirds of the company’s consolidated net operating revenue. The Cylinders Unit represented about one quarter of revenue, while the steel segment accounted for a smaller, yet relevant share in diversifying the business base. Profitability is also largely concentrated in wheels, with a significant portion of net income attributable to this segment. The client portfolio reflects strong exposure to the automotive and light‑vehicle sector, with the “Motor Vehicles” category accounting for more than 70% of total net revenue in 2025, while the LPG segment had a share above 20%. The remainder of revenue is distributed among other industrial clients, mainly associated with the steel and services business.
Mangels Industrial’s geographic footprint is predominantly domestic, with most net operating revenue coming from the Brazilian market. Even so, the company maintains export operations to countries in South America, Asia, North America and Africa, selling wheels and cylinders to markets such as Argentina, Paraguay, South Korea, the United States and South Africa, among others, in smaller proportions of revenue. Its production structure is concentrated in Três Corações (MG), which houses the wheels and cylinders units, and in Manaus, with the steel service center focused mainly on the motorcycle industrial hub. The company also operates an exchange center in Araucária (PR), associated with requalification and logistics related to cylinders and containers.
From a regulatory standpoint, Mangels Industrial’s operations are subject to a wide range of licenses and permits, mainly due to the handling of metals, foundry processes, painting, heat treatment and pressurized products. The units in Minas Gerais maintain environmental licenses with state agencies such as SUPRAM, IGAM and FEAM, registration with IBAMA, municipal permits, health licenses, as well as authorizations from the Federal Police Department, the Ministry of Defense (Army) and the Civil Police, in addition to Fire Department inspection certificates. The exchange center in Paraná and the Manaus plant also operate with environmental licenses and local permits, including agencies such as IPAAM and SUFRAMA in the Amazon region. Abroad, exports are subject to the legislation of each destination country, with regulatory risks associated with technical and product safety standards, although the international share of revenue is still minor.
In the environmental, social and governance (ESG) sphere, Mangels Industrial states that it maintains an integrated management policy that includes controlling raw material consumption and monitoring gas emissions, waste and effluents. The company discloses sustainability information on its corporate website and in a specific report that presents indicators such as CO2 emissions and addresses issues related to climate change. The current report mentions alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and takes into account recommendations related to climate risk disclosure, such as those of the TCFD, albeit still in a consolidation phase. The company says it conducts greenhouse gas emissions inventories and plans to standardize and submit its sustainability report for independent audit by 2026, integrating the results with internal risk and stakeholder analysis processes, which ties into the governance practices it follows as an issuer with MGEL3 and MGEL4 shares traded on B3.
