Compass Gás e Energia S.A. (PASS3) reported in a notice this Thursday, September 24, 2026, that its subsidiary Edge has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul for the development and operation of an onshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the municipality of Rio Grande.
According to the company, the project aims to overcome restrictions on sources and access to natural gas in Rio Grande do Sul and represents a scalable growth opportunity, with investments following commercial maturation and the development of the natural gas market in the state.
Compass emphasized that the initiative is aligned with its strategy of growth and geographic diversification of assets and businesses, offering new alternatives to consumers and creating value for shareholders.
The development of the project and the final definition of capital allocation are still subject to Compass’s final investment decision (FID) and approval by the relevant authorities. The company stated that it will keep the market and shareholders informed about the next steps.
