On Monday, August 17, 2026, Itaú Unibanco (ITUB4) reported that it had received from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the authority responsible for supervising banks in the United States, preliminary conditional approval to establish a bank with a national license in that country, to be called Itaú Bank, National Association.

According to the company, this approval represents a step in the process of setting up Itaú Bank but is not yet the final authorization for the start of operations. The opening of the new bank will remain subject to meeting regulatory and operational conditions and obtaining additional approvals from other authorities, including the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

The Itaú Unibanco conglomerate has maintained operations in the United States since 1979, offering financial products and services. The establishment of Itaú Bank is aligned with the strategy of expanding its capacity to serve clients in that market, with a broader offering of financial products and services.

Itaú Unibanco stated that it will continue to carry out the steps necessary to complete the regulatory process and that it will keep its shareholders and the market informed of relevant developments.
