At the close of Wednesday’s trading session, the Ibovespa ended down 0.18% at 206,505.98 points, after a session of moderate swings compared with earlier partial readings, when the index fell as much as about 0.57%. Among the highlights, Tegma Gestão Logística (TGMA3) rose 5.19% to R$ 47.46, while Casas Bahia (BHIA3) extended the losses seen throughout the day and closed down 24.31% at R$ 1.09.
On the positive side of the session, TGMA3 maintained the upward move observed throughout the trading day, when it had already been posting gains above 4%. At the close, the shares finished at R$ 47.46, up 5.19%. Other stocks among the top gainers were Anima Educação (ANIM3), which climbed 3.78% to R$ 5.22, and Raízen (RAIZ4), which advanced 2.78% to R$ 0.37. Rounding out the list, OceanPact (OPCT3) closed at R$ 10.68, up 2.69%, and Light (LIGT3) ended at R$ 3.90, a gain of 2.63%.
On the losing side, BHIA3 intensified the negative move already seen earlier in the session, when the stock was down a little above 20%. By the end of trading, Casas Bahia closed with a 24.31% drop at R$ 1.09. Americanas (AMER3) also ranked among the biggest decliners, falling 10.78% to R$ 5.71. Lojas Quero-Quero (LJQQ3) ended the day at R$ 2.50, down 6.72%, while Grupo Pão de Açúcar - GPA (PCAR3) slipped 6.49% to R$ 3.17, and Portobello (PTBL3) closed at R$ 2.62, down 6.43%.
Among the stocks recently mentioned in corporate news, Americanas completed in recent days the sale of one more HNT store for R$ 1.875 million, as part of a R$ 69.3 million contract involving 10 loss-making stores in São Paulo. In the case of Casas Bahia, the company released clarifications to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) about an ongoing expert examination, stating that the report is preliminary, does not bind the court, and does not constitute a material fact. There is, however, no additional numerical indication in this session directly linking these announcements to the screen prices observed today.
