Terra Santa Propriedades Agrícolas (LAND3) reported that, in 2026, a fire affected part of Fazenda Iporanga, owned by the company and located in the municipality of Nova Maringá, in the state of Mato Grosso. The affected area is a legal reserve, made up of native vegetation, and is not part of the areas currently leased and designated for agricultural production.
According to the company, dry conditions in the region, worsened by the effects of El Niño and projections of below-average rainfall, increase the risk of fires.
Terra Santa stated that it monitors its properties using satellite imagery, which made it possible to identify and track the fire from the outset. After identifying the incident, the company requested support from the Fire Department, which is working on site, and adopted additional containment measures, such as hiring a specialized field team, acting directly to fight the flames, and providing continuous reporting.
The company also made a drone operator available for aerial mapping of the affected area, in response to a request from the Fire Department, and provided support to the teams involved. At the request of the firefighters, it requested operational support from the Nova Maringá municipal government with a water truck and hired machinery to open firebreaks, with the aim of protecting areas not yet affected.
Terra Santa will continue to monitor the evolution of the incident and, after the fire is stabilized, will assess the area actually affected, its potential impacts, and the need for further communications to the relevant authorities.
