According to the company, continuing drilling after the discovery announced in August 2026 was aimed at assessing deeper exploratory intervals and made it possible to identify this new oil accumulation through electric logs, rock indications, and fluid samples obtained during operations.

Petrobras emphasized that the new discovery expands knowledge of the area’s exploratory potential and will provide additional information for evaluating the petroleum systems and resource potential of the Foz do Amazonas Sedimentary Basin. Analyses are ongoing and will be supplemented by laboratory studies integrated with the data acquired during drilling.

In the case of the discovery announced in August 2026, analyses already carried out confirmed the good quality of the oil found. Petrobras also reported that it will complete drilling activities on the Morpho well, continuing with the evaluation of the identified formations.

Petrobras’ activities in block FZA-M-59 are aligned with the company’s long-term strategy of replenishing oil and gas reserves by exploring new frontiers, with the goal of helping meet the country’s energy demand.
