On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Minerva (BEEF3) reported that Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced an agreement with Argentine authorities on sanitary conditions for the import of deboned and aged beef and derived products from the northern region of Argentina.
Minerva, which has six slaughter plants in Argentina with capacity for 5,978 head per day, views the agreement as progress with the potential to expand the export destinations of its operations in the country, in line with its strategy of geographic diversification and access to international markets.
The company highlighted that it already has access to the Japanese market through its units in Uruguay and that the start of exports from northern Argentina still depends on inspections and the approval of facilities by Japanese authorities.
According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) cited by Minerva, Japan, with approximately 123 million inhabitants, is the world's third-largest importer of beef and imported around 695 thousand tons in 2025.
