Grupo Pão de Açúcar (GPA, PCAR3) reported on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, that its subsidiary GPA 2 Corretora e Administradora de Seguros Ltda. has been authorized by the Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) to operate as a broker for property & casualty and personal insurance throughout Brazil. The new brokerage will work under a co-brokerage arrangement with Willis Corretores de Seguros Ltda. in brokering insurance contracts for Companhia Brasileira de Distribuição and its affiliates, focused on coverage of their own insurable risks.
According to the release, setting up its own brokerage is an initiative aimed at increasing operational efficiency and generating additional revenue. By internalizing part of the brokerage activity currently carried out entirely by third parties, GPA will start capturing a percentage of the commissions associated with the premiums on insurance contracts, without changing its commercial strategy or scope of operations. As a reference, over the last three fiscal years the company has recognized approximately BRL 185 million in premiums solely from surety insurance contracts.
To enable the partnership, GPA signed a co-brokerage agreement with Willis, which ensures access to technical capacity, closer ties with the insurance market, specialized know-how, placement structure and claims management. The company stated that it will keep the market informed in line with applicable regulations.
